A comparative study of placental transmission of foetal erythrocyte in maternal circulation between spontaneous abortion and pregnancy termination cases.

چکیده
100 cases of abortion, 45 cases of incomplete abortion, 15 cases of complete abortion, and 40 cases of pregnancy termination under 12 weeks, were studied in a comparison of placental transmission of fetal erythrocytes in maternal circulation under these conditions. Positive control smears (fresh cord blood of newborn babies) and negative control smears (adult males). The results of this study show that the incidence of transplacental hemorrhage is higher in abortion cases, whether spontaneous or induced, as compared with normal pregnancy and labor. 20% of cases where duration of pregnancy was more than 8 weeks needed 2nd curettage within 15 days of termination. Of these transplacental hemorrhage was found to be 100%. This is highly significant for Rh negative females.

متن کاملHuman type 2 17beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase mRNA and protein distribution in placental villi at mid and term pregnancy
BACKGROUND During human pregnancy, the placental villi produces high amounts of estradiol. This steroid is secreted by the syncytium, which is directly in contact with maternal blood. Estradiol has to cross placental foetal vessels to reach foetal circulation. The enzyme 17beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 (17beta-HSD2) was detected in placental endothelial cells of foetal vessels inside...
متن کاملRelation between parvovirus B19 infection and fetal mortality and spontaneous abortion
Background: Infection with parvovirus B19 may cause fetal losses including spontaneous abortion, intrauterine fetal death and non-immune hydropsfetalis. The aim of this study is to determine the frequency of parvovirus B19 in formalin fixed placental tissues in lost fetuses using real-time PCR method. Methods : In this cross-sectional study, 100 formalin fixed placental tissues with unknown...
متن کاملSurgical termination of pregnancy as a cause of rhesus sensitization.
The immunizing effects of spontaneous or induced abortions when there is foetal-maternal blood-group incompatibility are well known (Levine, 1943; Sauer and Kulich, 1964). Though there are a large number of reports of foetal erythrocytes in the maternal circulation after surgical intervention in full-term pregnancies (Goodall et al., 1958; Zipursky et al., 1959; Kleihauer et al., 1957; Apley et...
